He's not trying to smuggle arms southbound. He made a wrong turn.  He had weapons in the car.  He was arrested for that.  But he's certainly been held long enough to determine his intent and to send him home to his family.

Well Known Law Enforcement and Intelligence Leader Joins Command Consulting Group

David Cohen Joins Elite Firm, Strengthening Intelligence and Law Enforcement Advisory Capabilities

WASHINGTON, May 20 2014 – Command Consulting Group (Command) announced today that David Cohen, former NYPD Deputy Commissioner and CIA Deputy Director of Operations, has joined its team of veteran leaders from the national security, intelligence, and law enforcement communities. Command is a leading homeland and national security advisory firm providing services to government and private sector clients both in the U.S. and internationally.

“David Cohen has been a visionary leader throughout his career in the intelligence and law enforcement communities,” said W. Ralph Basham, a founding partner at Command. Basham, former Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Director of the United States Secret Service stated, “Dave understands as well as anyone in the world today the constantly evolving intelligence and law enforcement challenges faced by security organizations in both the public and private sectors and we are thrilled that our clients will have the opportunity to benefit from his unique background and experiences.”

Most recently in government Mr. Cohen served for twelve years as the Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence of the City of New York Police Department (NYPD), a position created in response to the 9/11 attacks. In that role, Commissioner Cohen oversaw all intelligence operations for the Department and implemented innovative and highly successful programs, unique for a municipal police department.

Earlier in his career, he spent 35 years with the Central Intelligence Agency before leaving government to work in the financial services industry. During his career at CIA, Cohen guided the agency's operations and analysis functions. He also served as the senior CIA official in New York.  From 1995 to 1997, Cohen was CIA’s Deputy Director of Operations, leading the CIA's Directorate of Operations, now known as the National Clandestine Services, the Agency's covert network of offices and personnel. In that role he also maintained relationships with key foreign intelligence and security services.

“I’m excited to join the Command Consulting Group team and look forward to helping them deliver world class security solutions to their customers,” said Cohen. “It’s a team made up of people who have been at the center of solving some of the world’s most complex security challenges and I’m confident we can continue to bring those best practices and lessons learned to Command’s government and private clients around the world.”
